Slugging is a new trend that's making its rounds and becoming popular on Tiktok. Those who've tried this skincare routine swear by its effectiveness. It involves applying petroleum jelly to acne-prone and dry skin. Vaseline, Aquaphor Ointment, and CeraVe Healing Ointment are some of the topical products that contain petroleum jelly. What's the Process of Slugging?

It involves cleansing your skin, following up with toners and serums, and applying petroleum jelly to add additional moisture. You would use a pea size amount of the product to your skin as the final seal during your nighttime routine. It's recommended to apply the ointment after you use your moisturizer. It's a thick cream, and of course, it works great for dry skin, as well as skin conditions that produce excessive dryness.

Some people believe that slugging works for clearing up cystic acne. Many TikTok users have utilized the platform to showcase their results of using slugging for acne in addition to dry skin. Because petroleum jelly is an occlusive, it's designed to help prevent moisture loss. That said, the ointment may increase the effectiveness of the products that you've already applied to your acne-prone skin, which is used to improve the appearance of acne and blackheads.
